Yesterday, I went to MTP, the Master Training Programme, to interpret for Japanese CG master, Shuzo Shiota, the CEO of Polygon Pictures. Before the lectures, I got no clues of what would be talked about and prepared nothing for it. Probably, the nervousness and unpreparation caused my insomnia overnight.

The next day, when I woke up, I did not feel comfortable and easy. During the lectures, I heard many names of software and video games, and Japanese companies and Japanese names. It made me hard to distinguish them with normal vocabulary. Therefore, I made stupid mistake, like 'playstation'.  And also, a whole day's interpretation really made me exhausted.  I was told to translate by myself. That was definitely a big pressure and challenge for me. But actually, it should rotate translators more frequently; some companies require rotating after no more than 20 minute intervals, since translating is so exhausting, especially in a high-pressure environment. However, nobody was around me and the person who charged of this Master Programme just thought that ONE interpreter could do a whole day’s translation for 6 hours without shifts of mind.

Later in the end, many participants complained a lot. I myself was not quite satisfied with my performance yesterday, though I tried hard to accomplish it. I did not mean to find any excuses for that. But I was not in a good mood to be honest.

Today, many of my leaders came to ‘talk’ to me. The American CEO was kind and wrote me Email saying the translation of professional knowledge was absolutely a tough job. It was a matter of improving and learning, not facing or excusing. I felt comfortable for that, and was quite grateful to his understanding. Nevertheless, the Chinese manager was not merry at all. Well, anyway, the critism was a way of improving and learning. Come on, Pris.

I'm not a interpreter (even not an amateur ),but I can fully understand the hardness you experienced. In DEC,2006,I attended an APEC meeting at vietnam,President Hu delivered a 30 minites' speech, I heard gasping sound  of the interpreter very clerly through the headset at the end of the speech, after the translator came out of the room,I saw sweat pearled his forehead (certainly not for hot ).It's must be noted that he is a professional interpreter!
So you've done an excellent job.

慰问一下。

其实,不要轻易用最高级。生活实在太丰富了,还有很多个“最”等着我们去体验呢。工作只是生活的一个小层面,何必看得这么严重呢?

Thank you so much for your kindness and understanding.
Yea, it is really tough. I just don't want to take it as an excuse anyway.
It is said that translators should have two brains, one for one language. I thought so.

It is challenging to be an interpreter over an unfamiliar field. That's life, Eh? Practice makes perfect, you could always draw some lessons from the previous failure. Yeah, I agree with the message left previously:Never say ever
There's always bigger challenges waiting for you on your life road

现在就开始翻译计算机编程和方程式的东西了,很多术语都是猜的,像约数,绝对值,If语句,fit,stamp表达式。只能靠高中那点有限的知识猜了...

表现已经不错了,做专场翻译不是件容易的事情;公司或客户应该提前给相应背景资料给译者进行参考,任何专业翻译都不可能对每个领域都有所涉及。It’s really tough job!

这简直是资本家压迫劳动人民的典型案例阿。
同意板凳的说法,没什么大不了的。

关于playstation,看来楼主是不打游戏的,玩游戏的人都知道

建议,有些术语是可以不译的,我们公司的产品名称都是不译的,日文版翻译产品名称也基本上是用片假名音译的...

下回鬼子说个PSP,就告诉他PSP,

还真是谈到了psp,但是我真是不知道它是啥东东,所以就没直译,结果还真对了!
